Singer Featherweight and Quilting

This little gal got some new tools yesterday, a scant quarter inch foot, a stitch in the ditch foot for top stitching near a seam, a quarter inch hemmer, and some new bobbins. All very nice quality from the Singer Featherweight Shop in Idaho. 25 hours from the time I place an order to my mail box! That is a record accomplishment! Thank you!

Fun fabrics from Keepsake Quilting (vintage fabric now).

Mon Cahier de Broderie Hoja 7

Working again on my embroidery sample book. It was a SAL  I started a long time ago and life became complicated so it was only pulled out and worked on slowly. Baby steps.

This is a bunch of Stem Stitch Roses  from Needle N Thread. Thank you Mary. They are very fun. I worked them with a strand of wool and a strand of cotton floss.

Embroidered Collar for Grand Daughter's Dress

This collar set will go on an 18 month size dress for one of my grand-daughters. The inspiration for the flowers comes from the flowers in the vintage dress fabric. Embroidered with DMC floss on a piece of white table cloth fabric from Grandma Crystal Thompson. The fabric is like a thick linen.

Stitches; Long & short Needle Painting, Lazy Daisy, French Knots, Stem Stitch & Blanket Stitch

Time to finish the embroidery.

Sewing, Embroidery, Pets

My comfort cat Mrytle was not feeling well. i thought she was dying, she had stopped eating and even drinking. I wanted to comfort her in her last days. My furry friend  got pampered. Then I treated her to home made sour cream and yogurt. She ate three spoonfuls!

This was back in July. now it's Jan 2019 and she is still helping me with my sewing, embroidery, and etc. Thankful

Carrickmacross

I had an adventure into making Carrickmacross Lace while I have been absent from my blog space. Remember this Kit from Tanja Berlin that I won on Mary Corbett's NeedleNThread.com ? It got me started and I was soon wanting more.

So I looked through Mary's collection of patterns and took an element from one of them to work in Carrickmacross.

I found a tutorial on Lyn's blog and worked through details.

I procured some materials from Jo Firth. The quality is excellent. You can see how sheer , how fine. Most important is the Janome Lace scissors, excellent quality, great price.

A practice motif, whipped  chain stitch, and Couched cording. The thread is Guterman Cotton made in Greece size 50, the cording is DMC Cordonet  cotton size 30. The fabrics are English Net and cotton organdie. The Motif is my daughter creation.

With the Organdie basted over the net to begin the flowers and leaves. The tendrils are done with just simple chain stitch, one strand of cotton sewing thread.

Yes, she is pretty happy with her veil.

Handmade cards & Lavender filled gift bags

The path from sewing and quilting gave way naturally to scrap-booking and card-making. So long as I can incorporate beautiful prints and textures from fabrics into this new to me world of paper crafts I'm a happy camper.
